New Delhi: Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist and 26/11 Mumbai attacks handler Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal has been produced before the Tis Hazari court in New Delhi on Thursday. Delhi Police had been granted Jundal's custody till July 5 after he was arrested on June 21 after being deported by Saudi Arabia.
Police say he was instrumental in training the 10 Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists who attacked different sites on November 26, 2008 in Mumbai, and was also present in the control room in Karachi along with top Lashkar terrorists Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and the officials of Pakistani military intelligence, the ISI.
Investigators have also seized Jundal's Pakistani passport and ID card which show his residence as Muridke near Lahore and his name as Riyasat Ali.
Several other agencies including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Pune and Mumbai Police want his custody as well. Their applications will also be heard by the Tiz Hazari court on Thursday.
But sources say the Delhi police is likely to seek an extension of Jundal's remand by another 14 days.
