Accept MCD poll results with 'good grace': PM

IANS | 20 Jun 2013 04:15 pm

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said the Delhi civic poll results in which the Congress suffered defeat should be accepted with "good grace".

"These are local elections, local issues. People who work for the people, these are qualities that count. In every election, there is a winner and a loser. One has to accept it with good grace," Manmohan Singh told reporters here on the sidelines of a function.

The prime minister was asked if the result of elections to the trifurcated Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was a vote against the Congress-led government.

The BJP retained control over Delhi's civic administration with poll results coming as a shot in the arm for the party ahead of the 2013 Delhi assembly polls.
