Army officer arrested on charges of abducting minor girl

Srinagar: An Army officer was arrested on Tuesday on charges of abducting a minor girl hailing from Shopian district in south Kashmir, police said.
Major Mahendra of 44 Rashtriya Rifles was detained by police near Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) in Srinagar after he was moving around with a girl in suspicious manner, they said.
Later, he was arrested and a case under section 363 RPC (abducting a minor person) was registered against the officer after investigations showed the girl was only 16-year-old.
The girl hails from Shopian district where the officer is posted.
