Chandigarh: Days after the woman, who was in-charge of a shelter called Apna Ghar in Haryana was arrested, investigations have now revealed that prolonged sexual abuse may have left some of the inmates mentally ill.
Meanwhile, the investigators say that shelter home manager Jaswanti Devi, who is currently in police custody, should undergo narco-analysis test to help them unravel the chain of conspiracy which allegedly involves police and government officials.
After CNN-IBN's reports, the state government was forced to withdraw a state award given to Jaswanti Devi for women empowerment. On the backfoot, the government is now trying to pass the buck.
The judge, who was a part of the three-member committee, said, "I was not the only one who took the decision. It was a three-member committee that decided. At that time there was nothing against her."
CNN-IBN has also learnt that the file recommending Jaswanti Devi for the award was initiated by the district administration.
