Lokpal may be taken up in Monsoon session: Bansal

CNN-IBN | 20 Jun 2013 12:29 am

New Delhi: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has said that there is a possibility of the Lokpal report being brought for discussion during the Monsoon session of Parliament.

"We expect the report by September 3, and if it does come, we may take it up in the Monsoon session," Bansal said.

Last week, Bansal had said that the Lokpal Bill can be taken up in the Monsoon Session only if the select committee looking into the measure gives its recommendation much before the stipulated time.

Stressing that the government was committed to get the bill passed, Bansal had said that if the Rajya Sabha's select committee, which has been asked to give its recommendations by the first day of the Session's last week, gives them by the middle of the Session, it may be possible to bring the bill in the session.

The Monsoon session that began on August 8 will end on September 7.
