New Delhi: Director Dibakar Banerjee's forthcoming film 'Shanghai' has introduced another foreign model to the Indian audiences. British model Scarlett Mellish Wilson has done an item number 'Imported kamariya' in 'Shanghai'.
Though her appearance suggests her British origin, her dance in traditional Indian dress of Ghaghara-Choli is at par with any other Bollywood item girl. Apparently, the model was introduced to Dibakar Banerjee by a common friend.
The director was initially reluctant to cast a foreigner in a rustic dance number, but he realised Scarlett's potential after few screen tests.
The model turned actor didn't disappoint Dibakar Banerjee either and has come up with good dance moves in a song composed by Vishal-Shekhar. Scarlett is not completely unknown to Bollywood as she has already worked with Saif Ali Khan in a TV commercial.
Lately, Bollywood has created space for many foreign models including Katrina Kaif, Nargis Fakhri, and Giselli Monteiro. Scarlett has won the first round as her item dance is receiving good response from the audiences, but her stay in Bollywood will be decided after the release of 'Shanghai'.
