Mumbai Police fail to get Abu Jundal's custody

New Delhi: Delhi Police opposed an application by the Mumbai Police Special Cell to hand over Syed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, one of the key plotters of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, to them. The Delhi Police Special Cell filed a reply in the Tis Hazari court on Wednesday saying that Jundal is in their custody till July 5 and the investigation is not yet over and so the custody cannot be given to Mumbai Police.
The court said that since the investigation of Delhi Police Special Cell is in full swing and it won't be right to hand over Jundal's custody immediately.
Following the refusal Mumbai Police moved another application to handover the custody of the accused at the earliest. The application will now be taken up on July 5.
