No bouncers, hire guards: Police to Gurgaon pubs

CNN-IBN | 21-Mar 08:17 AM

New Delhi: Gurgaon Police have banned the use of bouncers in all pubs and discotheques. An advisory has been issued to all outlet owners to hire security guards as they are better equipped to handle trouble-makers. This comes close of the heels of the March 12 rape of a pub employee. Police have also banned the entry of stags.

The Gurgaon police had earlier said that women can work at any time and even during night shifts without fear.

Police Commissioner KK Sindhu had issued directions to employers in the national capital's satellite town that they must provide transport facility to women employees who work late night shifts in accordance with the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishment Act.

To sort out the complaints against harassment of women, the Gurgaon police have started a dedicated helpline for victims. The helpline - 0124-2335100 - will remain operational 24x7.

Sindhu said the Gurgaon Police is committed to providing security to all citizens, especially women.
