New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said that the government will do everything to ensure the complete safety of the nuclear power plants in the country.
"We must do everything to ensure complete safety of our nuclear power plants. We must keep the option of nuclear power as an additional source of power. Not in the interest of the country to give up the the option of nuclear power," the Prime Minister said in the Lok Sabha.
Singh said that after the Fukusima incident, the safety and security of all the nuclear power plants were revisited. "All the nuclear power plants in India are safe. Utmost importance is given to the safeguards at the nuclear power plants in India," he said.
