New Delhi: Reactions from political parties started pouring in soon after media reports that the Congress party has recommended the name of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for Rajya Sabha nomination.
While welcoming the reported step by the Congress, the Opposition BJP said if elected, Sachin Tendulkar should devote some time to the Parliament.
BJP's Najma Heptulla said, "we are very happy that Sachin's name has been proposed for Rajya Sabha." BJP's Chief Spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Sachin is a great player. We are proud of him. If Sachin is being nominated surely he would devote some time to the Parliament."
Not stopping the ruling party to take an extra mileage, Congress went ahead in praising the little master, saying he should be given the Bharat Ratna award.
Congress leader Rajya Sabha member Rajiv Shukla said that Tendulkar deserves a Bharat Ratna. Congress leader Renuka Chowdhary said, "It would be nice if Sachin comes to Parliament." Rashid Alvi said, "Sachin has brought glory to the nation. If he is nominated to Rajya Sabha, I would be very happy."
