CNN-IBN | 04-Apr 10:34 AM

New Delhi: One more swine flu death has been reported from Maharashtra. After getting treatment for more than a year, 35-year-old Nandu Chavan succumbed to swine flu in Nashik on Wednesday.

Earlier, four people including a 70-year-old farmer in Coimbatore died on Tuesday in Coimbatore, two people died in Bhopal and one in Pune.

The virus has claimed at least 24 lives in the last month. 11 of these have been in Maharashtra. Doctors say that most of these have had underlying health complications. At least 330 H1N1 positive cases have been reported from six states. The Health Ministry is monitoring the situation. State health authorities say government hospitals have stockpiled the first line of treatment, Tamiflu.

Scientists at the National Institute of Virology IN Pune have seen 10 per cent to 15 per cent rise in swine flu cases in March.

In 2010, the World Health Organisation had warned that during the change of season, there will continue to be sporadic seasonal outbreaks, for a couple of years before the virus dies down.
