The book provides a fresh perspective on the perils and pleasures of parenthood from the view of the father. Bhattacharya describes parenthood as the next big adventure which changes a person's 'sense of momentum' and makes one more mature, thus changing a person's temperament in an unimaginable way. According to him, 'there is nothing quite fulfilling as the joy of watching one's child grow.'
The book contains several excerpts from the life of his daughter-Oishi which have been presented in an informal, humourous manner. Based on the weekly column in Hindustan Times-Dad's the Word, it is somewhat similar in terms of writing style to Single in the City by Sushmita Bose. An entertaining memoir, this book is definitely worth a read.
